     Dr. Stephen J. Press


BA

Undergraduate credits:
The Doctor received his Bachelor's Degree in Biology from Thomas Edison College of New Jersey. Most of his undergraduate education was at Fairleigh Dickinson University, in Teaneck, NJ.

Graduate credits:
Doctor also attended and received graduate credits in Radiation Health Physics through the County of Bergen's  Emergency Management office, when he was Director of Civil Defense for the City of Englewood;  from the University of Massachusetts, in what was then known as Lowell Technological University. He also received graduate credits in Biochemistry, from Fairleigh Dickenson University's now closed Dental College.

EMT-A Dr. Press was actually the  FIRST  nationally registered Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) in New Jersey, who actually took the exam. About 1975, when the State contemplated starting the program, Dr. took a course in Haverstraw, NY called "Medical  Emergency Technician", or MET. At its graduation after actually workig in Nyack Hospital, Mr. Rocco Morando the national  director  of the EMT registry came to NY and personally gave the exam. Subsequently, Dr. Press  took New Jersey's program all over again, and received his NJ-EMT-A  in the first ever class here.   He has maintained his EMT status pretty  continuously since then.

DC

The Doctor of Chiropractic degree is from Palmer College of Chiropractic, Davenport, Iowa. The Doctor graduated in 1978. Palmer College is, and was then, fully accredited by both the Council of Chiropractic Education (CCE), and the regional accrediting agency responsible for all Universities in the mid-west. The DC degree is a recognized "First Professional Degree," listed as such by the US Department of Education, and most recently recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO).

PhD

Doctor of Philosophy degree. Dr. Press has received his PhD degree in the area of Sports Medicine. The Degree is from Intercontinental University, Ltd., of Moscow, Russia. This is a coalition university, formed by faculty from both the Russian State Academy of Physical Culture and Moscow State University. Dr. Press received his PhD in Sports Chiropractic/Medicine on 30th November, 2006 in the field of Sports Chiropractic/Medicine. His dissertation was on "The mensuration of computerized isokinetic data correlated with gait/spinal biomechanical determinants".Dr. Press is formerly a dean of the faculty of sports chiropractic at the Institute of Physical Culture.

CCSP

Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician - This degree is awarded by the Certifying body of the ACA Sports Council after completion of a year of post-doctoral study at a CCE accredited institution; in this case, the division of National University of Health Sciences, in Lombard, IL, then known as "National-Lincoln College". The candidate then takes a National Board Examination in the specialty. Dr. Press graduated from the very first course ever given for certification, holding certificate numbered #00013, granted in 1980. He subsequently was retained by then President of National College, Dr. Joseph Janse, and served as coordinator of the program for the college in New Jersey, teaching in that forum for several years.

FACSM

Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine. This degree is an honorary title conferred upon those members, deemed by the faculty of the College to have made some significant contribution to the field of Sports Medicine. One must have been a member for a certain number of years, published, attended a certain number of annual meetings, and been reccomended by at least two current Fellows of the College. Of the more than 14,000 members of the ACSM, the World's largest body in Sports Medicine, there are only about 750 Fellows. The Doctor is still the ONLY DC so honored.

DAAPM

Diplomate of the American Academy of Pain Management. This degree is an honorary title conferred upon those members, deemed by the faculty of the Academy to have made some significant contribution to the field of Pain Management. One must have been in practice for a certain number of years, published, and been reccomended by at least two current Diplomates of the Academy.

FICC

"Fellow" of the International College of Chiropractors, a body founded by the past presidents of the American Chiropractic Association, awards the title of Fellow to those DC's nominated by a Fellow, and elected to this honor by the membership. It is awarded only to those DC's whose contributions to the profession have rendered them worthy of this distinction in the esteem of these, their most distinguished colleagues.

ICSSD

The International Chiropractic Sports Science Diploma (ICSSD) is given through the International Federation of Sports Chiropractic (FICS), awards the title of  to those DC's who complete a post-doctoral program in Sports Chiropractic, accredited by Murdoch University, in Australia.
